Accredited Dental Sleep Medicine Mini
About This Event
Tufts University School of Dental Medicine’s Dental Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency has been designated as an Accredited AADSM Mastery Program Provider at the Tufts Craniofacial Pain and Sleep Center. This Mini-Residency Program is divided into three modules and includes live-streamed and in-person sessions focusing on dental sleep medicine, sleep-related disorders, and their management. Participants will engage in lectures, workshops, and guided learning to incorporate this knowledge into their practice. The program culminates in earning the AADSM Qualified Dentist designation and the opportunity to take the ABDSM certification exam.
Learning Objectives
- Develop a deeper understanding of sleep, the physiology of sleep, chronobiology, breathing and non-breathing related sleep disorders
- Understand the interrelationship between TMD and sleep
- Develop proper examination principles and bite registration techniques
- Learn how to screen, evaluate, refer, and manage OSA patients
- Obtain an unbiased review of oral appliances for OSA management
- Practice bite registration techniques for OSA oral appliance therapy
- Gain experience using different custom-fabricated oral appliances with hands-on workshops
- Incorporate dental sleep medicine into practice, including collaboration with sleep laboratories and understanding medico-legal issues.
