Clinical Roadmap: Periodontal Diagnosis & Treatment Planning – Best Practices and Pitfall

April 8, 2026 Baltimore, MD, US

About This Event

A standardized classification system is essential for the dental team to diagnose and treat patients and to study the etiology, pathogenesis, and management of periodontal diseases. The 2017 classification of periodontal and peri-implant diseases incorporates patient factors including clinical attachment loss, bone loss, and rate of disease progression to individualize periodontal care, improve documentation, and guide comprehensive therapy. This live webinar will cover application of the classification to clinical scenarios, integrating risk assessment into treatment planning, and strategies to improve long-term outcomes.

Learning Objectives

  • Differentiate among common periodontal diagnoses including health, gingivitis, and periodontitis while applying staging and grading assessment specifically to the diagnosis of periodontitis
  • Apply the classification system to common clinical scenarios in general practice to enhance diagnosis accuracy, documentation, and treatment planning
  • Integrate patient risk assessments into treatment planning to achieve long term therapy outcomes
