About This Event

The Digital Implant Dentistry Preceptorship Program is a full-time, customizable observational experience (minimum 2 weeks, maximum 8 weeks) for domestically and internationally trained dentists. Participants attend didactic and clinical courses led by HSDM faculty alongside Advanced Graduate Education students, observe clinical cases at the Harvard Dental Center, and engage with clinical research. The program includes exposure to digital imaging and scanning, virtual treatment planning, implant placement protocols, prosthodontic treatment planning, multidisciplinary care, clinical research, patient communication, and professional ethics. Full-time participation is required Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Tuition is $2,200 per week; minimum total $4,400 (2 weeks) and maximum $17,600 (8 weeks). Participants receive a certificate of completion from the HSDM Continuing Education Department upon successful completion.

Learning Objectives

  • Enhance understanding of digital diagnostic tools and technologies (intraoral scanners, CBCT)
  • Apply virtual treatment planning using CAD/CAM for implant and prosthodontic cases
  • Integrate digital impressions and CBCT data for accurate treatment plans
  • Understand implant placement and loading protocols and guided surgery techniques
  • Plan and design implant-supported restorations (crowns, bridges, overdentures)
  • Manage complications in implants and prosthetic rehabilitation
  • Engage in multidisciplinary treatment planning with periodontics, oral surgery, and orthodontics
  • Participate in clinical research and apply evidence-based dentistry to practice
  • Improve patient communication and treatment presentation skills
  • Discuss ethical issues and professional responsibilities in implant and prosthodontic care.
