
Introduction to Therapeutic Botox
About This Event
This course provides clinicians with foundational knowledge and practical hands-on training in the use of therapeutic Botox for management of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and myofascial trigger point injections. Topics include indications and contraindications, anatomy review, injection techniques for relevant orofacial muscles, patient assessment and treatment planning, dosing and reconstitution, safety and adverse event management, and documentation. Participants will observe demonstrations and complete supervised hands-on practice to build competence in administering Botox and trigger point injections in the dental setting.
Learning Objectives
- Describe indications and contraindications for therapeutic Botox in TMD
- Review relevant anatomy for safe injection techniques
- Demonstrate proper reconstitution and dosing of Botox for orofacial applications
- Perform trigger point and targeted muscle injections under supervision
- Identify and manage common adverse events and complications
- Document treatment and integrate Botox into clinical practice appropriately.
