PBM: The Magic Laser That Nobody Knows About by Dr. Bob Convissar
About This Event
Though the first research on low level lasers began in 1967, most dentist are unfamiliar with low level or photobiomodulation (PBM) lasers. These lasers are non-surgical devices. They cannot be used for cutting tissue–they are purely palliative in nature. These lasers have been shown not only to decrease intraoperative and postoperative pain, but many studies have shown PBM therapy to improve healing for many surgical procedures–including faster implant integration and higher tensile wound strength.
This course will discuss the use of PBMS for virtually every discipline in dentistry from simply blocking the gag reflex in patients to eliminating the use of injection analgesia in pediatric patients during operative dentistry procedures to increase the healing rate after surgical procedures.
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
Understand what is PBM
familiarize with the different disciplines in dentistry that use PBM lasers
Familiarize with the literature covering PBM lasers.
