Prevention of Medical Errors (2 CEU)
About This Event
The purpose of this course is to provide healthcare professionals with an overview of the problem of medical errors, factors contributing to the occurrence of these errors, and steps that can be taken by institutions and individual care providers to reduce medical errors in key care settings. Topics include recognition of common performance and diagnostic errors, elements of root cause analysis, risk management measures to prevent dental errors and increase patient safety, review of types of medical errors encountered in the dental office, active and latent errors, assessing sentinel events, techniques for reducing risks to health, safety and malpractice, prevention of specific medical errors, and learning from past accounts by dental professionals. Course meets Florida BOD license renewal requirements.
