Soft Reline for Dentures: An Expanded Function Certificate Course
About This Event
This course will cover the essentials of soft relining for dentures, including a review of the denture patient, the denture process, and the dynamics of dentures. Participants will engage in both lecture and hands-on lab work, learning about the types of soft denture liners, dental materials, and the objectives of soft relining. By the end of the course, attendees will be able to identify the special needs of edentulous patients, understand the psychological implications of dentures, and proficiently apply soft reline materials.
Learning Objectives
- Identify special needs of the edentulous and partially edentulous patient
- Become aware and understand the physical challenges of dentures
- Understand the concepts of the psychological implications of dentures
- Become adept with the objectives of a soft reline
- Compare and determine which type of soft reline materials to use in different circumstances
- Describe the dental materials, ingredients, & reaction of the soft reline materials
- Discuss and describe over-the-counter denture products
- Review and discuss medical and dental health history prior to placing a soft reline
- Properly mix and place a soft reline material in a denture or partial denture and place it on a cast model
- Properly trim and polish the soft reline material
- Proficiently give home care and oral hygiene care instructions to the denture patient
- Make an appropriate dental chart entry for soft reline appointments.
