About This Event
The aim of this course is to help the general dentist feel more confident looking at the musculoskeletal structures in patients presenting with orofacial pain. We will go through examination techniques using an orthopedic mindset. We will then apply our findings to the most common diagnoses on the DC/TMD.
Lastly, we will go through some treatment techniques for each diagnosis and you will be able to easily apply them in the dental practice. This will allow you to have a more comprehensive treatment approach for these patients and start improving their symptoms right away.
Learning Objectives
- Use orthopedic examination concepts for patients presenting with orofacial pain
- Determine a diagnosis using exam findings and the DC/TMD
- Identify and change one objective finding at the initial patient encounter
- Implement simple in-office treatment for the discussed diagnoses
- Give the patient tools to actively participate in their care
