Challenges for Oral Care

About This Event

Both psychiatric disease and dental disease are two of the most prevalent of all health problems that presently exist in our society today. Mental illness and the resulting disabilities inflict immeasurable difficulties on patients as well as their families. It is essential for dental practitioners to improve their knowledge of this complex aspect of a patient’s medical history. This course provides insights into how mental health conditions impact oral health and vice versa, preparing practitioners to deal effectively with patients facing these challenges. Topics covered include medication interactions in dentistry, oral manifestations of mental illness, and understanding the disabilities and stigma associated with psychiatric disorders.
