About This Event

With the new year comes new resolutions for improved health and lifestyle changes. Help your patients jump-start their year with healthy behaviors. In this course, you will learn how to confidently discuss nutrition, smoking cessation, vaping, trends in weight loss, as well as preventive and screening services like hypertension, diabetes, and HPV prevention. You’ll get insight into how these issues impact oral health.

Learning Objectives
– Learn how to talk to your patient about quitting smoking, use tools provided by the ADA and make smoking cessation referrals (use quitline course info)
– Explain impact of artificial sweeteners on oral health (IAFNS)
– Understand and convey the oral health risks/benefits of GLP-1s
– Learn how to screen for hypertension/high blood pressure, then make appropriate references if treatment is needed
– Implement vaccinations in your office and educate patients on the importance of each
– Discuss weight loss tools and their impact on oral health
– Understand how to start conversations about mental health and substance use disorders
