The webinar titled ‘Bridging Microbial Ecology and Clinical Research to Optimize Periodontal Treatment and Prevent Implant and Restorative Failures’ will be presented by Magda Feres DDS, MSc, DMSc and Ira Lamster DDS, MMSc. This session aims to address the profound imbalance of the oral microbiome, known as dysbiosis, which significantly increases the risk of failure in implant therapy and other dental rehabilitative services. The presentation will cover the ecological principles underlying periodontal and peri-implant health and disease, clinical and microbiological endpoints of treatments, and the impact of various treatment strategies, including the use of adjunctive systemic antibiotics. Additionally, the potential role of artificial intelligence in developing personalized treatment protocols will be discussed. Participants will gain insights into understanding the ecological shifts in the oral microbiome, evaluating the effectiveness of different treatment strategies, and exploring how AI can aid in creating evidence-based treatment protocols.
