About This Event
This is a virtual course designed to provide dental auxiliaries with knowledge regarding the production and safe use of ionizing radiation within the dental office. The course satisfies the Virginia Board of Dentistry’s Radiation Certification requirement. Topics include the nature of radiation, types of interaction with matter, dose limits, patient radiation protection principles, operator radiation protection, and the effects of low-dose radiation. Educational objectives include describing how ionizing radiation is produced, discussing selection criteria for radiographic studies, and practical principles of radiation protection.
