Intraoral Scanning: Fundamentals and Applications.
About This Event
With the recent advances of CAD/CAM dental technology, the use of intraoral scanners has been rapidly increasing. Intraoral scanners are now widely used to fabricate various types of dental prostheses including fixed, removable and implant prostheses. Intraoral scanning has some advantages over conventional impression making, but it also has limitations. This presentation will review basic principles of intraoral scanning that clinicians should know about to control the accuracy of intraoral scanning. Scanning strategies and indications/contraindications of intraoral scanning will be discussed based on recently published studies. Various clinical examples will be presented to describe how the principles discussed in this presentation can be used to improve patient care outcome.
Agenda/Outcomes:
– Review basic principles and accuracy-determining factors of intraoral scanning
– Discuss optimal scanning strategies and techniques for varied clinical situations
– Present clinical examples and expand understanding of appropriate clinical applications and limitations
