Optimizing CAD/CAM-Generated Ceramic Restorations: Enhancing Performance Through Deeper Understanding – Part II: Fabrication

April 10, 2026 Portland, USA

About This Event

With the recent advancement in digital dental technologies and dental materials, the use of CAD/CAM-generated ceramic restorations has been rapidly increasing. Today, there are many CAD/CAM systems and workflows available for the manufacture of highly accurate dental restorations at a relatively low cost. However, outcomes of CAD/CAM ceramic restorations are sometimes suboptimal due to poor understanding on technologies. As the use of digital workflows does not change the goals of prosthodontic treatments, it is critical for clinicians to understand how conventional prosthodontic principles can be applied when a digital workflow is used. In this presentation, scientific background and clinical applications of CAD/CAM-generated ceramic restorations will be reviewed through various case examples. Considerations for successful CAD/CAM ceramic restorations will be discussed focused on material selection and manufacturing process of ceramic restorations. Hands-on session will include exercomputer-aided manufacturing of ceramic restorations. Participants will also learn how to finish and color lithium disilicate and zirconia restorations using MiYO liquid ceramic.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand available ceramic materials and design options and how to select optimal ceramic materials and design
  • Understand important clinical considerations in relation to CAD/CAM ceramic manufacturing processes
  • Learn how to apply digital technologies to achieve predictable esthetic and functional outcomes using various ceramic materials
  • Improve understanding on various finishing and coloring options for ceramic restorations.
