Preserving Tooth Function Beyond the Bone Loss: Decision-Making and Endodontic Strategies for Complex Lesions
About This Event
Teeth with large bone loss, particularly those with combined endodontic and periodontic lesions or root damages, can sometimes be preserved. This course provides clinicians with diagnostic and decision-making skills to manage complex periradicular bone loss. Topics include differentiating five types of endodontic-periodontal lesions, anatomical relationships between root canal systems and periodontal structures, non-surgical and surgical endodontic protocols using bioceramic materials, perforation repair, and management of root fractures. The course includes lecture content and case-based guidance to inform prognosis and interdisciplinary treatment planning.
Learning Objectives
- Classify diagnostic criteria for endodontic-periodontic lesions
- Identify and describe the pathways involved in complex bone loss
- Assess the prognosis of teeth with the complex bone loss
- Discuss non-surgical and surgical endodontic plans for managing complex lesions
