Preserving Tooth Function Beyond the Bone Loss: Decision-Making and Endodontic Strategies for Complex Lesions (ACDE Webinar)

February 13, 2026 Baltimore, MD, US

About This Event

Teeth with large bone loss, particularly combined endodontic and periodontic lesions or root damage, may be preserved with accurate diagnosis, consideration of patient health and hygiene, and interdisciplinary treatment planning. This lecture will help clinicians differentiate five types of endodontic-periodontal lesions, explore anatomical relationships between the root canal system and periodontal structures, and review non-surgical and surgical endodontic protocols using bioceramic materials. Advanced endodontic techniques such as perforation repair and management of root fractures will be discussed. Designated for 1.50 continuing education credits by VCU School of Dentistry (ADA CERP Recognized Provider).

Learning Objectives

  • Classify diagnostic criteria for endodontic-periodontic lesions.
  • Identify and describe the pathways involved in complex bone loss.
  • Assess the prognosis of teeth with the complex bone loss.
  • Discuss non-surgical and surgical endodontic plans for managing complex lesions.
  • Enhance patient communication regarding treatment options and outcomes.
