
ACDE: Prescribing Antibiotics as Prophylaxis

Dentists often encounter medically complex patients and need to decide if antibiotic prophylaxis is indicated. This live webinar will provide a comprehensive review of ADA and AHA guidelines, AAOS Appropriate Use Criteria, and best practices across clinical scenarios. Topics include bacteremia-associated antibiotic prophylaxis, prevention of infective endocarditis, prevention of prosthetic joint infection, surgical antibiotic prophylaxis, prophylaxis to prevent wound site infection in high-risk patients, miscellaneous conditions lacking general guidelines, and antimicrobial resistance and antibiotic stewardship in dentistry. Educational objectives include the ability to apply criteria and best practices in these scenarios. Conflict of interest disclosures will be provided at the start of the course.
