
Bench Prep Hands-On Training Course
About This Event
This six-day course is tailored for candidates applying to International Dentist Programs in the U.S. Participants will refine their skills in fixed, removable, and operative dentistry, focusing on self-critique to maximize performance on bench tests. The course includes lectures and hands-on simulations in UAB’s state-of-the-art lab, covering crown and bridge preparation, operative dentistry, and removable partial dentures. Participants will perform multiple restorative preparations under direct supervision from UAB dental faculty.
Learning Objectives
- Understanding of fundamental concepts of preparation of all-ceramic crowns, full gold crowns and Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns
- Understanding on how to survey a partially edentulous model
- Understanding of RPD design for Kennedy class 1, 2, 3 and 4 partially edentulous arches
- Skill in preparation of an all-ceramic crown on a maxillary anterior incisor
- Skill in preparation of a full-cast restoration on a mandibular molar tooth
- Skill in preparation of an all-ceramic and porcelain fused to zirconia FPD
- Skill in preparing anterior teeth for class III and class IV restorations
- Skill in preparing molars for class II restorations
