Foundations in Physiologic-Based Dentistry for Complex Cases

About This Event

This hands-on Core Curriculum course provides tools to treat complex dental cases using Physiologic Based Dentistry. Participants will learn to identify musculoskeletal signs of TMD, take and use a physiologic bite, construct physiologic orthotics, manage bruxism, design treatments to eliminate chronic pain, understand bite positions related to headache/neck/back pain, identify causes of malocclusion (including Class II & III), and integrate airway considerations into TMD care. The course includes the Tag Bite℠ hands-on workshop and practical preparation materials for specific campus locations. Visiting faculty present real-case applications to enable immediate implementation in practice.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify musculoskeletal signs & symptoms of TMD
  • Discuss why & how to take a physiologic bite & its relationship to the rest of the body
  • Construct the ideal Physiologic Orthotic
  • Solve Bruxism/Grinding issues in almost every case
  • Design skills to eliminate chronic pain no other health provider can
  • Discuss the bite positions related to headache, neck pain and back pain
  • Identify the underlying cause of malocclusion and its importance
  • Identify why Class 2 & Class 3 malocclusions develop
  • Discuss which cosmetic cases may require additional multidisciplinary treatment to ensure success
  • Discuss the relationship of airway & TMD
