About This Event
This Mastering Sedation course is only for individuals who have completed the 3 online modules for Nitrous and Minimal Sedation, and need to fulfill the Oregon Board of Dentistry requirement for the hands-on portion for permitting. The hands-on portion will take place on April 18th at the OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon from 9am-11am. This course offers instruction in all aspects of inhalation analgesia and oral conscious sedation, including effective methods in dealing with anxiety control in general practice. Our faculty specializes in adult learning by utilizing a multimedia approach that enhances knowledge and retention. Participants will learn various techniques and protocols designed to achieve certification in nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation as well as competency in providing oral anxiolysis. A patient-centered approach to care is emphasized on appropriate medication section, monitoring and practical emergency management. Case studies will augment the delivery of key points and a problem-based learning approach is encouraged so that each participant’s questions are addressed. Taking this course along with the required online modules are designed to fulfill Oregon Board of Dentistry requirements for the Minimal Sedation Permit.
