Pain Management; Analgesics, Opioids, Adjuvants and Beyond
About This Event
Pain is the most common presenting symptom of a dental patient. The learner will receive an overview of different types of pain syndromes and best practice guidelines on the management of acute and chronic dental pain. Non-steroidal analgesics and Opioids will be discussed. Pharmacology of pain medications will be discussed in detail.
At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
– Discuss common types of pain experienced by the dental patient
– Understand how the management of pain affects the quality of life of the dental patient.
– Develop an awareness of misconceptions and consequences of untreated pain.
– Identify appropriate analgesics for each type of pain.
– Discuss the pharmacology of analgesic medications
– Understand the role of the dental team in assessment and treatment of pain.
