Practical Tips and Tricks for Clinical Practice: AM: Geriatric Dentistry and Oral Medicine. PM: Functional Occlusion for the Advanced General Practice

February 1, 2026 Loma Linda, California, US

About This Event

Geriatric Dentistry and Oral Medicine:
By the end of this decade, the US will have the largest population over 65 years of age than in the nation’s entire history. Longevity comes with consequences. The older population has greater need for medical and dental care and, in fact, utilizes 80% of the the country’s medical services: they take multiple daily medicines that manage multiple concurrent chronic medical and dental diseases. The dental care of this population requires specific knowledge, not only of special dental therapies, but more importantly, a formal algorithm to safely manage and treat complex and medically fragile patients.

Occlusion for the Advanced General Practice:
Occlusion is the great “common denominator” in clinical dentistry. Occlusion affects the success or failure in nearly every discipline including esthetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, implant dentistry, periodontics, and orthodontics. When occlusion is planned and managed correctly, dentistry functions better and lasts longer.
