Printing Occlusal Splints and Models
About This Event
This presentation with hands-on demonstration will present protocols and materials for 3D printing models and occlusal splints. We will review a protocol for designing a splint based on stl files of a patient’s dentition. We will also show how to base a model so that it can print on a 3D printer. We will then demonstrate how to nest the files in a 3D printing software to create a print design. We will discuss different 3D printers and splint materials. Finally, we will discuss different aspects of post-processing, such as washing, curing and polishing. The information provided in this table clinic is based on several years of independent research conducted at UAB on 3D printed splint materials. We will be showing you how to do these procedures using free software and a budget (less than $500) printer.
