
Radiology Certification for Dental Auxiliaries – April 2026
About This Event
This course teaches essential concepts of dental radiology for dental assistants. It includes a mandatory lecture session (live webinar) covering intra-oral and extra-oral techniques, radiation biology and protection, infection control, film and sensor placement, film processing, mounting and evaluation of radiographs, quality assurance and error correction. Participants then attend a half-day or full-day in-person clinical component at Boston University School of Dental Medicine where they take a written exam and perform periapical and bitewing exposures on a manikin using digital sensors; full-day New Hampshire clinic includes additional sensor and film placement training. The course meets Massachusetts Board of Dentistry requirements; the full-day clinic also meets New Hampshire requirements. Parking is available at 710 Albany Street, Boston MA 02118 (not covered). Participants must be 18+. Course materials and exams are in English only.

- Film and sensor placement (Paralleling and bisecting the angle technique)

- Characteristics and evaluation of dental radiographs including panoramic radiographs
- Quality assurance and recognizing and correcting errors for both film and digital images
