About This Event

This session will review the current CDC infection prevention and control guidance and the CDC Core Practices that apply to dental healthcare settings. Relevant OSHA standards will be reviewed. Strategies and resources for implementing current guidance and evaluating compliance will be described. Topics include modes of disease transmission; exposure prevention and management; CDC recommended immunizations for healthcare personnel; hand hygiene; personal protective equipment (PPE); environmental infection control; managing dental water quality; and instrument processing and sterility assurance. Teaching method: Lecture. Instructor: Kathy Eklund, RDH, MPH.
