
Initial ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
About This Event
The ACLS Course prepares healthcare professionals to recognize and manage cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. Course components include basic life support skills (effective chest compressions, bag-mask use, AED), airway management, peri-arrest recognition and management (including symptomatic bradycardia), related pharmacology, and management of acute coronary syndrome and stroke. Training emphasizes effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team. The offering includes 8 hours of online pre-learning followed by an 8-hour in-person session for a total of 16 CE hours. Intended outcomes: improved resuscitation skills, clinical decision-making in cardiac and respiratory emergencies, and team leadership during codes. Instructor: Shane Driver, NRP, FP-C, an experienced paramedic and educator. Location: UAB School of Dentistry, 1919 7th Ave. South, Birmingham, AL 35294.
