Supporting Dental Professionals with a Behavioral Health Lens
About This Event
This self-paced course provides an overview of behavioral health issues clinicians face in practice including burnout/moral injury, substance use and substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and resources to address these issues. The presentation uses a case-based approach. To receive credit learners must watch the 1-hour educational video in its entirety and pass a 10-question post-test (70% required; one retake allowed). Course meets NC re-licensure criteria for the NC General Assembly and NCSBDE. Cancellation allowed up to 7 days from registration if video not viewed. ADA CERP Accredited provider: UNC Adams School of Dentistry.
Learning Objectives
- Distinguish between burnout and moral injury and strategies to address them in practice.
- Define substance use disorders and provide an overview of harm reduction.
- Review how to implement non-stigmatizing language and communication strategies for people with challenging behaviors.
- Review resources to enhance clinical comfort and confidence with the aforementioned subjects.
